With Founders Melanie & Stewart Hall at the helm, Luna2 designs, develops and operates the growing number of Luna2 hotels, beach bars and restaurants in key hot-spots around the world. Named after the first spacecraft to land on the moon in the late 50’s, Luna2 raises the benchmark in hospitality for its visionary design, superstar services and stellar standards of wining & dining, lounging & sleeping.
Melanie Hall loosely refers to her design style as “FUNked-up modernism”; with references to modernism and 60’s pop, Hall injects innovation of the future, and adds huge doses of humour into the mix – a distinct characteristic of the Luna2 design ethos, which “Respects the past, welcomes the future and likes to have fun in the process!”
Originating in Bali, Luna2 private hotel opened in 2007, beachfront in Seminyak. The design which contrasts the ubiquitous ‘modern Bali,’ “Breaks new ground here on earth”, according to the UK’s Wallpaper* magazine, and was named one of Hong Kong’s Asia Tatler’s “World’s Top 10 Hottest Hotels”.
In April 2013, neighbouring Luna2 studiotel opened. Uniquely known as a ‘studiotel’, Conde Nast Traveller remarked in March 2013 that it “Resembles what a ‘hotel of the future’ may have looked like in the 1960’s.”
Founder & Designer Melanie Hall’s Luna2 ethos “Respects the past, welcomes the future and likes to have fun in the process! With this in mind, Luna2 blends nostalgia (great modernism works of the past, some 60’s pop etc), with futurism (innovation, gadgets, high-tech stuff) and touches of fun…life is not to be taken too seriously after all!
This ethos continues to be infused throughout every aspect of Luna2 as a company, from architectural design to interior design, from Lunafood to music, right through to the superstar service offered. Hence, the Luna2 team is encouraged to have a sound understanding of great tradition, keep abreast of global innovation, and retain a sense of humour in the process.
